Conductors

The material or substances which allow the flow of electric charges them easily , when placed in an external electrostatic field are called conductors. This property of conductors that allow them to conduct electricity is known as conductivity. Examples : Silver , Copper , Iron , Mercury , Earth , etc. The human body is a strong conductor. It offers a resistance-free path from a current-carrying wire through the body for the current to flow

Insulators

The material or substances which do not allow the flow of electric charges through them, when placed in an external electrostatic field, called insulators. The resistivity is the property which makes insulators different from conductors. Examples of insulators are wood, fabric, glass, mica, etc.

Allows current to flow easily through it. Do not allows current to flow easily through it .
Electric charges are present in conductors. Electric charges are not present in insulators.

Resistance of an conductor in very low. Resistance of an insulator is very high.
Conductors are used in making electrical equipment. Insulators are used in making of insulating electrical equipment.
